99 OHS Training And Biomonitoring of Farmers Related With Pesticide Usage
Proje Genel Bilgileri
Tarımsal pestisitlere maruz kalma nedeniyle tahmini 2,2 milyon insan risk altında ve bu nüfusun çoğunluğu gelişmekte olan ülkelerde bulunuyor. Pestisitlerin kullanımı, kısmen piyasadaki kimyasalların artan bulunabilirliğine bağlı olarak, son on yılda düşük ve orta gelirli ülkelerde hızla artmıştır. İklim değişikliği, tarım ilaçlarının ek kullanımının artmasına katkıda bulunabilecek tarım koşullarını etkiler. Uygun şekilde uygulandığında, pestisitler zararlı böcekleri, mantarları ve yabani otları yönetmede etkili olabilir ve çiftçilerin üretkenliği ve geliri artırmasına yardımcı olabilir. Tehlikeli pestisitler, düşük gelirli ülkeler de dâhil olmak üzere insan sağlığı ve çevre için önemli riskler oluşturmaktadır. UNEP, her yıl 200.000 kadar insanın pestisit zehirlenmesinden öldüğünü tahmin ediyor. Düşük gelirli ülkelerde yapılan çeşitli araştırmalar, kullanıcılar ve perakendeciler arasındaki yetersiz bilgileri, pestisitlerin yetersiz nitelendirilmesini, kişisel koruyucu ekipmanların düşük kullanımını ve atılan pestisitlerin ve kapların yönetimine yönelik sistemlerin eksikliğini belgelemektedir.

Bu sebeplerle Avrupa Birliği ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti tarafından finanse edilen projemiz, tarım sektöründeki iş sağlığı ve güvenliği koşullarının biyoizleme yoluyla iyileştirilmesi ve mesleki maruziyetler hakkında farkındalık yaratmak, tarım sektörü için yerel düzeyde ilgili paydaşlara ulaşmak hedefleriyle 01.02.2021 tarihinde başlamış olup 31.07.2022 tarihinde sonlanacaktır.
Genel Amacı
The main objective of the project is to improve occupational health and safety conditions in the agricultural sector where pesticides are using, which is very hazardous sector according to NACE coding system, through biomonitorization and to underline the importance of trainings due to occupational exposures, raise awareness, reach out relevant stakeholders at local level for agricultural sector. The main objective of the project is directly relevant to the global objective of the Call.

Özel Amacı
The specific objectives of our project involves the Call’s objective such as; to prepare occupational health and safety training module for the training of farmers and other related stakeholders exposed to pesticides to improve working conditions, to perform a training of trainers (ToT) about occupational health and safety issues on pesticides usage and exposure to raise awareness and to conduct a pilot study to validate the training program for capacity building.

Beklenen Sonuçlar
Awareness of the especially farmers, farm labourers, hired farm workers, their families and all related stakeholders about occupational health and safety issues on pesticides exposure will be increased.
Efficient training programme and usable guidebook about OHS on pesticides exposure will be prepared and published.
An elective course based on the output of the project” occupational health and safety for pesticide usage in agriculture training module” will be opened in Başkent University.
Training of trainers (farmers, farm labourers and students) about pesticides exposure and OHS issue will be performed in 6 districts of Ankara. This programme will be prepared with the contribution of related stakeholders. The opinion and suggestions of the key stakeholders (i.e. authorities, agricultural engineers) will be taken. 120 farmers will be trained as trainers. The same training will also be implemented in a pilot school (Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School) where students take education about agriculture.
Project web page and social media accounts will be implemented, so the visibility of the project will be increased.
Employers and employees in agricultural sector, NGOs, families, vocational and technical high schools and universities will be beneficiaries of the project.
Blood, skin and hair samples will be taken from 300 farmers and agricultural workers to make biomonitoring.


Ulaşılan Sonuç ve Çıktılar
Awareness of agricultural workers, their families and all relevant stakeholders on occupational health and safety issues regarding pesticide exposure has been increased. Blood, skin and hair samples were taken and analyzed for biomonitoring from 300 farmers and agricultural workers.
An effective training program and usable guide on OHS related to pesticide exposure have been prepared and will be published.
At Başkent University, the elective course “Occupational health and safety for pesticide use in agriculture” was opened based on the project outputs.
The project's visibility was increased by implementing the project web page and social media accounts.
